General Overview

Statistics

According to the World Health Organization in 2017, an estimated 253 million people live with vision impairment: 36 million are blind and 217 million have moderate to severe vision impairment,
81% of whom are aged 50 years and above.

The Challenge

Today more than ever blind and visually impaired individuals have an easier time performing “ordinary tasks” by themselves than in the past, thanks to advancements in technology. However, these individuals often still face challenges that sighted individuals do not.
One of the most common difficulties arises when entering a new space and these individuals are placed in the dilemma of choosing between completing a task with the help of others or not completing it at all.

Our Solution

RightHear is an advanced accessibility interactive solution placed inside venues that helps grant its users the confidence and independence they deserve by providing them with tools to better orient themselves
in public spaces.
RightHear’s unique three component technology consists of our customizable administrator dashboard, our bluetooth Beacons that are installed in the venue and our free app that the user downloads to their personal smartphone. The three devices communicate with each other to provide relevant and up to date information about the venue to the user.

Societal Inclusion

In recent years, there has been a massive push to use technology to allow all individuals to have the same opportunities despite any disability they may have.
Specifically for the blind community, this push can be seen by the increasing number of accessibility mobile applications available, such as color, object, and money denomination identifiers as well as solutions that help with navigation and orientation.
Fortunately, we at RightHear have the unique opportunity to inspire change for good by promoting inclusion and independence in venues of all types around the globe.
